YOUR CALL IS IMPORTANT / ARRANGE THE WAIT
Something
comes back.
Write a phrase once. Let it return with company, alone, or after a little silence.
Four reusable banks. Each step lasts eight pulses, or five seconds. There is no real call or queue.
Hear the whole piece.
4 steps · 20 seconds
No sound playing.
Across the steps.
This is one rule for the whole piece. In your chosen lines, a note reaching the end of a step continues into a matching note at the start of the next step. Every matching boundary joins; there are no separate exceptions. Silence, a different note or an absent line breaks the connection. Editing a bank or moving a step recalculates the connections. The last step never joins the first.
Current rule and connections
Separate notes
No notes currently join across steps.
Hear the whole piece, or choose a passage below to hear consecutive steps. Changing this rule makes one Undo decision and retires prepared copies. Separate notes keeps every step independently articulated.
Stay with a passage.
Hear a few consecutive steps while you work on their return. Your complete piece stays in place.
Steps 1–4 · 4 steps · 20 seconds
- Step 1: A · Both lines · 5 seconds
- Step 2: B · First line · 5 seconds
- Step 3: A · Second line · 5 seconds
- Step 4: Silence · eight pulses · 5 seconds
Repeat cuts from the chosen last step back to the chosen first, without joining that boundary. Each passage starts its notes afresh; the Between steps rule applies only inside the chosen passage. Stop sound ends it. Choosing a passage changes no notes or prepared copy; every export still keeps your complete piece. If the piece becomes shorter, the listening range stays within its steps.
The phrases that return.
Changing a bank changes every step that uses it. Copy it to another bank first to make an independent variation.
The destination’s current notes are replaced. Its steps use the copy; later edits to either bank stay independent.
One line, another partner.
Use one complete eight-pulse line from bank A in another pairing. Only the destination line changes; its partner stays. Later edits to either line are independent.
First-to-second and second-to-first copies are allowed, including within one bank. A missing second line is not an authored silent line: add it explicitly first. Choosing here changes no notes.
A first Hold has nothing to continue. A Rest is silence. Split makes two halfway choices; Join is available only when it keeps the same sound. Bank, line, pulse and step auditions play their material on its own. The Between steps rule applies when you hear consecutive steps in the piece or a passage. Scroll a score sideways for its full-size note labels; the pulse controls below make the same choices.
First line
Move every note through C4, D4, E4, G4, A4, C5. The gaps between choices differ. Rests, holds and split positions stay. If any note would pass an end, the whole line stays. All uses of this bank share its notes.
Reverse the order of notes and silence, keeping each note’s length and separate attack. Every step using this bank shares the change; copy to another bank first for an independent answer. Silent holds may become rests. Undo restores the exact previous notes.
Second line
Move every note through C4, D4, E4, G4, A4, C5. The gaps between choices differ. Rests, holds and split positions stay. If any note would pass an end, the whole line stays. All uses of this bank share its notes.
Reverse the order of notes and silence, keeping each note’s length and separate attack. Every step using this bank shares the change; copy to another bank first for an independent answer. Silent holds may become rests. Undo restores the exact previous notes.
What comes after what?
Choose a step to revise. Banks keep their notes; a step chooses which bank and lines to hear. Silence is a complete five-second step.
Step 1
A · Both lines · 5 seconds
4/16 steps. Once-only playback is the default; the Repeat choice cuts back to the first step after the last one, without joining that boundary.
Four phrases, several returns, and room for silence. Nothing plays until you choose.
Keep the whole wait.
Sound, notes, or the whole editing desk
WAV keeps the complete piece with this synth’s sound. MIDI carries separate first and second note parts and a 96 BPM tempo. In other music software, choose instruments and set the project to 96 BPM if needed to keep this timing. Its notes keep their full rhythmic lengths, without this synth’s sound or fades. JSON keeps all four banks, including unused ones, their reusable step order and the Between steps rule; open it in this desk to edit. HTML includes those notes and this complete editor for use without a connection. A performer score unfolds the whole piece into aligned first and second parts, with attacks, sustained notes and rests already resolved. It is a fixed graphic reading to print or keep; it contains no editor or sound. Listening level, Repeat, passage selection and Undo belong to this visit. A kept editing desk starts silently with a fresh listening selection.
Reopen an arrangement
Choose one complete arrangement JSON, up to 32 KiB. The file is read on this device. Review the saved piece, reuse one complete bank, or replace your whole arrangement.
Bring a phrase from the other desk.
Paste an existing phrase link, including one with halfway choices or a second line. It becomes a reviewed bank; nothing is applied automatically.
