A Change of Words
A notice about an actual published word game using the classic word-ladder rule.
Written
A Change of Words uses the classic word-ladder rule credited to Lewis Carroll. Change exactly one letter in its own place, keeping the other three where they are. Every word must appear in the game’s 36-word list, and no word may appear twice on the same ladder. The complete list is available below the controls.
Choose any of the three journeys. Switching keeps each journey’s accepted words and Undo history during this visit. Undo takes back the last change. Restart this ladder returns that journey to its first word; Undo can restore the route you left.
Choose Ask for one next word when you want a suggestion. It appears only on request and is not added for you. If there is no fresh route through unused words, try Undo or restart the journey.
Type a four-letter proposal and choose Add word, or press Enter. Lowercase becomes capitals when you add. Progress stays in this visit: reloading begins all three ladders again, and nothing is saved automatically.
