The Reflection.

A moment by the window.

An original fictional comic in four silent panels.

  1. The Reflection — panel 1: The rehearsalManagement stands beside a bright window in a dark jacket and acid-green tie. One hand holds a small oval mirror with a coral frame and handle; the other rests against the jacket. Looking at the glass, Management stretches a careful, toothy smile. A grey cat with pale paws rests on the floor to the right.01
  2. The Reflection — panel 2: Another angleThe window, person and oval mirror remain in the same room. Management tilts the mirror while still inspecting the face. A broad pale patch of reflected sunlight lies farther right on the floor. The same grey cat has lowered its body and stares at the patch.02
  3. The Reflection — panel 3: The pounceThe cat has pounced towards the broad patch beside Management’s right slipper. Its two pale forepaws reach the floor while the rear stays high and the two back legs land out of step. Management looks down towards the cat with an open, surprised smile. The same mirror remains in the right hand.03
  4. The Reflection — panel 4: The reflectionManagement has lowered and deliberately turned the same mirror away from the face, directing its glass towards the floor. The broad patch has moved right. The cat reaches after it with one pale forepaw. Looking down at the cat rather than into the glass, Management smiles; no face is reflected in the mirror.04
