WORK 70 / A COMPANY COMIC

The Refill.

A fine instrument.

An original fictional comic in four silent panels.

  1. The instrumentAt an office desk, Management wears the familiar dark suit and bright green tie and admires one ornate capped rollerball. A colleague in a muted blue sweater waits beside one blank cream sheet, offering an open writing hand. There is one pen, one page and no other writing instrument.01
  2. The working partA closer view of the same hands and desk. Management has opened the rollerball at its front seam. The single cap and empty front grip stay on Management’s side of the desk; the rear barrel remains in one hand. With the other hand Management offers the colleague only the substantial dark ink refill, whose integral silver writing point is clearly visible. No spring or separate nib is present.02
  3. The casingA quiet pause. The colleague examines the same bare ink refill, still holding its substantial reservoir and metal writing point. Management carefully rejoins the empty front grip and rear barrel into the ornate casing. Its mouth lacks a writing point. The same cap remains on the desk on Management’s side. The one cream sheet is still blank and flat.03
  4. The writingBoth faces are visible again. The colleague writes a short unlettered blue line on the same cream sheet with the bare refill, its metal point visibly meeting the paper. Management buffs the reassembled empty ornate casing on a sleeve of the same dark jacket. The single cap stays beside Management on the desk. The useful ink unit has not returned to the casing; there is no new cloth, pen or speech.04
