WORK 63 / A COMPANY COMIC

The Briefing.

Just a few words.

An original fictional comic in four silent panels.

  1. Just a few wordsManagement stands on the left in the familiar dark suit and bright green tie, addressing one colleague through a plain copper-coloured speaking trumpet. The narrow end touches Management’s open mouth; its broad bell faces the colleague on the right. Management’s free palm is raised beside the head. The colleague, in a muted blue sweater, listens with both hands down. There is no audience and no other prop.01
  2. A replyThe same two people and the same unpowered horn remain in place. The colleague now tries to answer, mouth open and near hand offered palm-up below the bell. Management continues speaking through the narrow end, free palm still raised. Both faces are visible; nothing covers the colleague’s mouth.02
  3. The adjustmentThe colleague has reached one open hand to the upper side of the same horn’s broad rim, gently guiding it. Management follows the adjustment, turning slightly towards the reader while keeping hold of the horn’s handle. Its narrow end has left the mouth and is moving towards the ordinary right ear. The colleague’s other hand stays down. Only one horn is present.03
  4. The briefingManagement now holds the narrow end of the same horn against the visible right ear. The mouth is closed, the head is turned slightly towards the reader, and the formerly raised free hand hangs down. The broad bell faces the colleague, who speaks normally with an open palm beneath it. The colleague no longer touches the horn. Both people attend to the conversation.04
