WORK 99 / A LITTLE ROOM TO MOVE

One
Space.

Eight tiles.
One place to go.

Put the numbers in order, with the space at the end. A tile can only move when there is room. Sometimes a whole line has to come along.

Three shuffled beginnings

Beginning A.

2 / 8 in place

Columns A–C run left to right; rows 1–3 run top to bottom.

Choose a tile in the space’s row or column. That tile and any tiles between it and the space slide one square towards the gap.

A PLACE FOR EACH ONE

Leave room
at the end.

A tile in its place may need to move again. The count above does not measure how many slides remain.

One gap.
Several ways around.

This is a small sliding-tile puzzle using traditional rules. These three starting arrangements and this implementation were made by the company. Each beginning can reach the ordered board; the letters are names, not difficulty ratings.

Click or tap a marked tile. With a keyboard, Tab reaches the same buttons and Enter or Space slides them. A whole-line slide is one Undo step. The last 256 slides can be undone; making a different slide clears Redo on that board.

Each beginning keeps its own position, Undo and Redo while this page stays open. Reloading begins again.
