WORK 101 / A SMALL NETWORK PUZZLE
In
touch.
A turn for every tile.
A connection for every end.
Turn the tiles until every arm meets its neighbour and every tile belongs to one network. Start at an edge, follow a line, and bring the rest into touch.
BOARD 1 OF 3
First contact.

Choose a tile to turn it clockwise. Dashed arms have an unmatched end. A1 has a ring; tiles linked to it are coloured together and named as linked. A four-arm tile stays the same when turned. Keyboard: Tab moves between controls; Enter or Space turns a tile.

One network.
Every end met.

Getting the boards ready…
Keep or open an arrangement
Copy this code to keep First contact, or pass its arrangement on. It holds this board’s tile directions, without its Undo or Redo history.
Connections on every tile
- A1 — south. Linked to A1. Unmatched south.
- B1 — north, east, west. Not linked to A1. Unmatched north. Unmatched east. Unmatched west.
- C1 — south. Not linked to A1.
- A2 — south, west. Not linked to A1. Unmatched south. Unmatched west.
- B2 — east, south, west. Not linked to A1. Unmatched south. Unmatched west.
- C2 — north, west. Not linked to A1.
- A3 — west. Not linked to A1. Unmatched west.
- B3 — west. Not linked to A1. Unmatched west.
- C3 — north, east. Not linked to A1. Unmatched north. Unmatched east.
Turn a corner.
Meet a neighbour.
An arm must meet an arm on the next tile. The paper’s outer edge does not wrap around. Turn only the tiles: their places and shapes stay fixed.
Finish with every tile in one network, every arm matched and no closed loops. These boards have exactly enough arms to join all their tiles as a tree, so a matching connected finish has no loops. The marked source is a reading aid: all tiles must ultimately be connected to each other.
Each board keeps its own most recent 100 changes in Undo and Redo during this visit. A new turn clears that board’s Redo; Restart and opening a different arrangement are each one undoable change. A complete board stays in place until Undo, Restart or opening another arrangement. Nothing saves automatically; keep each board’s code before reloading to return to its arrangement.
