ONE MILLION
DOLLAR COMPANY.

WORK 37 / A PICTURE IN PIECES

A Box
of Offcuts.

The picture was perfectly serviceable.
Management found the scissors.

Cut it into strips. Move the pieces around. See what a small rearrangement does.

Begin with the company sample, or choose one picture from your device.

Open a free cutting table — new tab ↗
Cut separate rectangular pieces and place them anywhere on the paper. The new table starts with its own company sample; your current strips stay in this tab.

The cutting table.

6 STRIPS / 0 EDITS TO UNDO

The strips each contain a different part of the picture. Move them up or down in the stack, or slide a piece sideways. Source strip numbers stay with their pieces.

Your arrangement.

948 × 468 SVG
Current 6-strip composition, in source-strip order 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, with 0-pixel gaps.
Keep this SVG

The preview and this download are the same composition.

“Keep this SVG” keeps a picture of the strip arrangement. A chosen picture remains prepared raster pixels; it is not converted to vector shapes or kept at original quality. To continue cutting these pieces, keep the editable free-table copy below.

Continue these strips at the free table.

Keep an editable copy of the current applied arrangement, then open it at the free cutting table to cut, turn and move individual pieces. Your strip table and its Undo history stay here.

The editable copy.

948 × 678 SVG
Editable free-table copy with the same 6 strips, source picture, order and positions; 210 extra blank pixels of paper below.

Strip picture: 948 × 468. Free-table paper: 948 × 678. 210 extra blank pixels of paper are added below to meet the free table’s minimum paper height. Every strip stays at the same position and size.

Keep for free table

This preview and editable download use the same SVG. It contains the complete prepared picture and each strip as a separate piece. The browser handles saving.

  1. Choose “Keep for free table” and save the file.
  2. Open the free cutting table in a new tab ↗.
  3. Under “Back to the same table”, choose the saved SVG, review it, then choose “Continue this composition”. That replaces the free table’s work and starts a fresh Undo history there.

Opening another tab does not carry the strips automatically. This editable copy continues at the free table; it does not reopen at the strip desk. It keeps applied cuts and positions, not this visit’s Undo history or a separately prepared picture waiting for your decision.

A picture to cut.

JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 8 MiB. Preparation resizes the longest side to at most 1024 pixels and flattens transparency onto warm paper. The original file stays on your device.

This also returns to six strips, zero offsets and gap, paper background, and clears Undo for the previous picture.

Cut and space.

The number applies when you press Recut. Recut resets order and offsets, keeping the gap and paper. Undo can restore the earlier cuts.

Undo restores one composition edit on the current picture. Reassemble puts every piece back and closes the gaps; you can undo that too.

The pieces.

  1. Source strip 1

    POSITION 1

    Picture rows 1–70

  2. Source strip 2

    POSITION 2

    Picture rows 71–140

  3. Source strip 3

    POSITION 3

    Picture rows 141–210

  4. Source strip 4

    POSITION 4

    Picture rows 211–280

    POSITION 5

    Picture rows 281–350

  6. Source strip 6

    POSITION 6

    Picture rows 351–420

Offsets are percentages of the prepared picture’s width: left is negative, right is positive. Every source row remains in one strip.

The company sample is cut into six strips. Move a strip or give it a little room.
